Warm Apple Pie Smoothie
Dare I say it, but the mornings certainly are cooling down. Autumn is upon us in the Southern Hemisphere and these cooler mornings are causing me to crave warmer breakfasts.
In the summertime, smoothies are my go-to but as we venture into Autumn and Winter I’m looking for something to warm me up rather than cool me down. I do love my smoothies though and so I’ve created this winter warmer that is like a warm hug in in a mug.
Apples are also abundant this time of year and are a great source of nutrients including Vitamin C, K, potassium and fiber.
1/2 apple, grated
1 cup almond milk
1/2 cup water
1 heaped scoop of Nuzest Smooth Vanilla Clean Lean Protein
1 Tbsp coconut oil (or even olive oil)
1/2 tsp maca powder (optional)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/8 tsp allspice
1 small pinch of sea salt
Place all the ingredients into the cup of your blender and blend as you would any smoothie until creamy. Pour the mixture into a small pot on the stove and warm on medium heat until it reaches desired temperature.
Pour into your favourite mug and top with a sprinkling of cinnamon and desiccated coconut. If you'd like your smoothie thicker - add 1 Tbsp of chia seeds.
